The Winter Solstice is the time to get your BEARings
Winter Solstice (Grianstad a’Ghreamhraidh) is the time of reflection and repair. It’s the time of getting our bearings (BEARings) - which makes me think of Bear in the 7 Grandfather Teachings of the Anishinaabe.
The root of bear is literally to carry, bring forth - to birth into the world. That’s the root of Bear. Bear is the Teacher in this time of darkness, because we are reconnecting to what we want to bring into the world.
Bear symbolizes courage in Anishinaabe teachings.
Bear symbolizes the courage to protect and stand and do what is right. Bear brings the courage to take care of those weaker than us and to stand up to those that are seemingly stronger or more powerful than us.
We call on the Spirit of Bear when we need help to BEAR truth into the world.
Bear shows us how to have courage to connect to the cycles of the world; rest when we need to rest, work when we need to work and receive from the world what we need, when we need it. Bear is connected to the rhythm of rest and activity.
Bear has the courage to follow the guidance of Spirit greater than her own.
The root of courage is heart.
It takes strength of heart to stand in truth. It takes strength of heart to follow ways of Guidance that are not supported by the exterior, fabricated structures of the world you live in. Bear says you have the strength and courage to be who you are and do what you know is right to do.
Bear is what Bear is, and Bear does what Bear does. Bear is always enough.
Use this Solstice time to reconnect to your BEARings and allow the Spirit of your Self to be here fully.
In Thanksgiving for continued Indigenous survival and future thriving; I dedicate this page to further links and resources for educating ourselves on Truth and Reconciliation.
We can choose new options to Reclaim the Dinner and bring Indigenous gratitude into all our actions. Thank you for being here.
