Loki the Shit Disturber

Oh Loki, you charismatic joker. Do you know Loki? Yes, he’s the Norse trickster god, ready to convince you to do some crazy shit just for him and make you think that you thought of it on your own. If Loki has arrived, look out - you’re in for a ride.  

Loki is a charmer. He may not be trusted, but everyone still loves him. He never hides who he is, but he has such a way about him that you’ll give him your last penny and apologize that you don’t have more. He’s almost always attractive, even if he seems plain, or even ugly at a first glance - Loki will dazzle you. He’ll talk to you like you’re the only one in the room worth talking to, and he’ll make everyone in the room feel the exact same way.

Loki is associated with The Magician card in the Tarot deck. He’s able to manipulate people and potential and circumstances to his own ends. The magician can be a bit of a psychopath because they are so good at mirroring human emotion and reaction that they can make you believe they know exactly how you feel, when in reality they have no idea.

To the magician, everyone and everything is a tool to be used for the magician’s own ends. Loki is similar but his inherent luck tends to make it work out for everyone involved. 

If Loki has arrived in your life, you’re ready to embrace your inherent and abundant luck. Everything always seems to work out for you.

You don’t worry when things go off track because you always end up in a good place, often with a really great story. Your Loki-ness has taught you that the world is a safe and abundant place to be. Your friends and family have seen you change a potentially ugly and upsetting situation into a revered shared memory. Some chalk it up to your “positive attitude”, but it’s more than that. You have an uncanny knack to find (or create like magic), the resources you need to turn every situation around and make it a win for everyone. Loki wants everyone to win, but Loki does what Loki wants.

He’s a charming asshole and he always gets his way. Loki doesn’t do a thing he doesn’t want to, and if you think you’ve got him doing your work - just wait,  because he’s only doing whatever you’ve got him to do because it’s part of a bigger plan that serves Loki. 

If you’ve connected to Loki… stay away from me. I’ll probably end up cleaning your house or doing your taxes while you lie on the couch with a big bowl of popcorn and I’ll think it was my idea. People in your life are always wondering how you do it. You never seem to work very hard, but your bosses love you and promote you and you fall into opportunities every time you turn around. 

It’s not chicanery, but it is a bit of magic.

You’re a charmer and people like to say yes to you. You network exceptionally well, remember people’s names and their stories and people remember you because you make them feel special. You are an exceptional people person. People instinctively trust you, even if you haven’t been completely forthcoming or above board, people believe that you act in their best interest; even though you are always acting in your own best interest.

Your people skills make you excellent in any sales role. You could sell ice to the Inuit. If you have any inclination to go into politics - either government, or politics within your business sector, do it. You are exceptionally gifted as a politician - not only because of your inherent luck and likability, but also your instincts to create win-win scenarios. A politician who can make everyone think they won has superpowers. 

Above all, Loki is irreverent and unimpressed with all the gods in the Norse pantheon. He has no allegiance except to himself. He is unimpressed by big stories or big celebrities or big money.

Neither are you.

Unimpressed with fame or fortune, you can walk through all social classes and get the exact same response from anyone you engage with. You tend not to be overly concerned with moral or ethical ramifications as long as no one is getting hurt.

You can be seen as a lone wolf who is only looking to enlarge your own portion. This can be true. Be careful if this path starts to make you cold. If you no longer actually care about those who you charm, it’s time to step back and reflect. 

As much as your decisions are based on how you can make it better for yourself, you always choose ways for your luck to enrich those around you. This is one of your hidden strengths that you don’t give yourself enough credit for. Of all the schemes and plans that you envision, the best ones and the ones that you tend to choose, are when the payoffs enrich many many people on many different levels - not just monetarily, but emotionally, mentally and spiritually. You have a lucky way and people who help you get helped in return.  

Loki has a faithful, loving, dedicated wife. She makes his last captive days on Earth more bearable, less of a torment. You won’t be locked by the gods in the middle of the Earth to have snake venom drizzled into your eye balls, but you may miss your beloved if you’re not paying attention. 

When you find someone who can see through your game and still likes what they see, don’t let them go. When you meet that person who can’t be flattered or charmed or dazzled in any way, who does not fall for your glamour and still beams and adores you and laughs at your jokes, you will have found your match.

Your luck will not work on them, your luck will have worked to bring them to you in the first place. 

Loki’s luck does eventually run out. If Loki has stepped into your life, make sure that you are treating people with care and making decisions that will create futures where you still have friends, family and colleagues that love and trust you when there is no luck to fall back on.
